Apostle Alphonse Okossi concluded his preaching series on "DISTRACTION" at Calvary Living Faith Church's Sunday Dec. 30, 2018 service. This was the last Sunday Service of the Year 2018. Blessed be the name of the Lord for the power filled 2018 year of worship at CLFC!. Apostle Okossi continued to emphasize that Distraction is the biggest enemy confronting Christians. In the Sunday sermon, Apostle Okossi centered on the subject of "The Spirit Of Setback" as a dangerous enemy for Christians. "A spirit is fighting you so you can never reach your goal, to achieve God's Promise for your life," the Apostle told the Church. Apostle Okossi stated that we must focus on the Spirit of Success to counter-attack the spirit of set-back. "The Spirit of Success is the antidote," the Apostle said. The Apostle referenced Scripture EZRA 4: as example of spirit of setback attacking, in the Adversaries Hindered the Building to the Temple. "The enemy tries to discourage you; so you will stop and give up," Apostle Okossi stated. "You then stop the purpose God has for your life." The Apostle said that the enemy attacks us with the spirit of setback when he knows we are walking in the right way in the will of God. "The enemy will try to convince you out of the way, and will of God," Apostle Okossi stated. The remedy is for us to (1) SUBMIT TO GOD (2) RESIST THE DEVIL and (3) Devil will FLEE. The spirit of setback attacks our marriages, finances, our jobs, family, and children, the Apostle stated. The Apostle referenced the crucial Bible Scripture of: "Jesus The True Vine" JOHN 15: 1-6 (1) I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. (2) Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. (3) Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. (4) Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. (5) I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. (6) If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned."
The Apostle told the Church "Jesus is a tree of life. We are the branches. No set backs can come to us as long as we are the branches attached to Jesus." Apostle Okossi stated that the key to defeating the spirit of setback is "We must abide/stay in Jesus, and then no setbacks formed against us will prosper." Apostle Okossi also pointed out that Sin opens the door to the enemy to attack with a spirit of set back. "We must repent right away, as for forgiveness. This closes the door to the enemy," Apostle Okossi stated. The Apostle explained that the door way for spirit of setback to enter into your life is: (1) Sinful Lifestyle ; (2) Spirit of Unforgiveness; (3) Idolatry ; (4) Sexual Impurity ; (5) Curses in you life. Apostle Okossi also warned the congregation against speaking Negative words against own life and against others. "Life and Death are in the power of our own tongues," Apostle Okossi reminded the Church. "You can plant a spirit of setback in your own self, as well as in your wife/husband, family, church members, etc, by speaking negative words against them. The enemy is constantly attacking with the spirit of setback, Apostle Okossi stated. Therefore, we must always pray spiritual warfare against the enemy, he said. The enemy attacks with sickness, problems, job problems, marriage problems, in our businesses we are trying to startup, in our ministry, all to discourage us, Apostle Okossi said. The Apostle told the Church it is necessary to examine ourselves to determine what areas of our lives is the Enemy fighting us in with spirit of setback.
