Apostle Alphonse Okossi preached on FORGIVENESS AND RECONCILIATION at Sunday's July 21, 2019 service at Calvary Living Faith Church in Harlem, NY. "This is one area where the Christian cannot fail. If you fail, you become like the 5 Foolish Virgins. Forgiveness includes the releasing of grudges and bitterness over past offenses. If you cannot forgive someone, you cannot be reconciled with God," Apostle Okossi preached. Apostle Okossi referenced Scripture 1 JOHN: 8-9
(8) If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. (9) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Apostle Okossi also pointed to Scripture MATTHEW 6: 14-15:
(14) For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: (15) But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." Apostle preached that we must forgive others, in order for God to forgive us. The scripture teaches that when we don't forgive, we are separated from God. "You have to repent from your own unforgiveness, repent of anger, bitterness. Act, using the Word of God when you see unforgiveness in a loved one or in your family, Apostle preached. "True forgiveness comes by acknowledging what was don to you was wrong. Then by confessing the hurt to God, and asking God to heal you and deliver you from those emotions," Apostle Okossi preached. The Apostle also stressed to the congregation that forgiveness in unlimited. "If others offend you again, forgive them," Apostle Okossi stated. "You forgiveness must be unlimited. Remember that guilt and shame are not of God. Forgive yourself also. Acknowledge Sin; Confess Sins To God; When God forgives, He forgets."
