Minister Gary Raynaldo took on Bible Teaching duties at Sunday May 5, 2019 church service at Calvary Living Faith Church. Minister Gary taught on the subject: GOD'S MIRACLE WORKING PROVISION - THE MONEY IN THE FISH'S MOUTH

Minister Gary referenced Scriptures MATTHEW 4: 18 - 20 as background on Apostle Simon/Peter when Jesus met him while he was working as a fisherman.

Minister Gary taught on the main Scripture of MATTHEW 17: 24-27 THE MONEY IN THE FISH'S MOUTH.

The Temple Tax: (24) And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute? (25) He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers? (26) Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free. (27) Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee."

When Simon chose to give up his life as a very successful, and wealthy fisherman, to follow Jesus as a Disciple, Jesus re-named him Peter, which means Rock. Jesus would eventually proclaim that "Upon This Rock of Saint Peter I build my Church." Peter is now a fisher of men by choosing to follower Jesus.

In the subject lesson, everybody at the time among the Jewish people were required to pay a tax to support the Temple. But Jesus and Peter had no money to pay the Tax tribute to the Temple. Jesus instructed Peter to go to the sea, and cast a hook and line, then take up the fish that first comes up; and when it opens its mouth, Peter found a piece of money that was exactly the amount of the Tax owed. What happened here, is that Jesus agreed to pay the Tax himself, even though, as the Son of God, he was not obliged. Jesus did not want to set a bad example of not obeying the proper authority and paying taxes. But since Jesus had no money, Jesus relied on the miraculous provision of God, the Father to provide the money in a super natural way, using a fish in the sea. We must take action in faith, believing that GOD will provide all of our provisions for food, the rent, and to pay the mortgage and car notes.

We have to trust and obey GOD. This is what Peter did in the scripture, he obeyed Jesus to go fishing in another strange manner, by using a hook and line. This was totally bizarre to Peter, who was an expert fisherman, who always used big nets to cast out in the sea to catch fish. But he obeyed, trusted GOD, and cast out the hook and line and the first fish that came along, he brought up, that had money in its mouth to pay the taxes.

When we have faith and trust in Jesus, and obey Him, Jesus works miracles in our lives. The scripture also teaches us about patience, waiting on the Miracle Working power of God, and taking action, even if it is something we are not used to doing. We should always trust God, the creator of the Universe. Jesus makes a way out of no way when there seems to be no way out of bad situations.

AMEN, In Jesus Mighty Name
